M.V. Volante
M. V. Volante is a modern fast charter vessel working out of her home port on the beautiful and historic Isle of Iona, on the west coast of Scotland. Gordon MacCormick, owner/skipper of Volante operates sea angling, sightseeing and wildlife trips from Iona and from Fionnphort on the Isle of Mull. Trips run daily from the beginning of April until the end of October. Throughout the summer months, Volante also operates a scheduled, evening ferry service between Fionnphort and Iona.
SEA ANGLING - There are excellent fishing grounds within 15 to 20 minutes steaming time from the harbour, including the famous Torran Rocks. Reef, ground and general fishing for pollack, coalfish, mackerel, ling, tope, skate, rays, etc
can all be arranged and fishing gear can be supplied or you are welcome to bring your own. Our usual trips leave from Iona at 9.15am and 3.30pm and we will also pick up at Fionnphort ferry slip. Trips normally last either 4 or 8 hours but alternative trips can be arranged.
SIGHTSEEING - Our daily sightseeing trips around the Isle of Iona are a truly amazing experience and a fantastic way of relaxing. The trip lasts for an hour and a half and leaves daily at 2.00pm from Iona pier. Along the way you should see puffins, razorbills, guillemots, cormorants, shags, skuas, and many varieties of gulls. There are usually seals to be spotted lazing on the rocks or playing in the water and there is also the possibility of spotting porpoise, dolphins, mike whales or basking sharks.
Parties and individuals are welcome. Don't be put off if you don't have a group, contact us and we will organise a trip for you. We are also happy to help and advise you with travel arrangements and accommodation.
