Orcadian Wildlife offers tailor-made wildlife and history tours to small groups of people up to a maximum of 4 guests. Our style is informal and pace is yours. Our five night all-inclusive package offers tours to mainland Orkney, inner and outer islands, designed to suit your wishes. Travel is by means of our comfortable Discovery Landrover and of course by foot, cycle or ferry, according to your desires.

The Orkney Islands` unique blend of land and marine wildlife and 5,000 years of culture offers opportunities for memorable life-time sightings in nearly all weather conditions and times of year. Just some of the treasures on offer are sights and sounds of internationally important seabird colonies including puffins, terns, skuas, glimpses of the rare and elusive corncrake, seas alive with whales, dolphins and porpoises, views of the endemic Scottish Primrose and culture spanning back 3,000 BC.

Early guests in May and June will watch long-tailed duck, scaup and great-northern divers, all close up in Scapa Flow and breath-taking in their summer plumage. Lapwings, curlews and redshank will all be displaying. The weather will be fresh, the days will be long and the sounds of the Simmer Dim will remain with you always. Main season guests in July and August will see seabirds, auk colonies, terns and skuas and with luck whales, dolphins and porpoises offshore. Midsummer in the Orkney Island archipelago is filled with the memories of seabirds and their young. Late season guests in September and October may see literally any kind of migrant bird and the returning barnacle geese. Special grey seal pupping weeks are also an annual highlight. At any time of the year we will aim to show you Orkney specialities such as otters and seals.

The base for your holiday will be our traditional family farmhouse and small-holding on South Ronaldsay. Food is farmhouse-oriented from our own farm and nearby organic farms, and vegetarians are very welcome. Our farmhouse is situated by a headland overlooking the nature reserve island of Copinsay with easy access to Kirk Geo beach. The island of South Ronladsay is a southern Orkney isle, which is within easy reach of both mainland Scotland and the surrounding islands.

We will be pleased to collect you by arrangement from any ferry terminal on mainland Orkney or Kirkwall Airport.
