Loch Ness is one of the most beautiful and mysterious places in the world and there is no better way to see the sights and feel the mystery than from the water. At Highland Free Spirits we cater for the discerning traveller with luxurious cruises for small groups of up to six guests on a beautiful, modern motor cruiser with a friendly, knowledgeable, local crew. We provide complimentary food and drinks on all our cruises and our aim is to help you create memories that will last a lifetime.
Whether you join us for a one hour champagne cruise on the Loch, for two hours for a lunch or supper buffet cruise or even for two days cruising the length of the Caledonian Canal your time with us will be special.
We don’t operate to a schedule so you can choose exactly what you want to do or, if you prefer, you can leave the decisions to us. The best thing about not working to a schedule is that once we get on the water you can change your mind and take a detour to look more closely at anything that catches your eye!
At Highland Free Spirits nothing is too much trouble.
Our vessel, Eilidh Catriona, is a beautiful Sealine F34 Motor Cruiser. She was commissioned in 2007 and is finished to a very high specification. She is Marine Coastguard Agency Coded, carrying a full inventory of safety equipment. The skippers are qualified and the crew are experienced. All have a wealth of knowledge of the area which we will be happy to share with you. We have spent many years cruising the lochs and coast of the Highlands and can take you to some of our favourite places or to anywhere on the Loch or Canal you may have heard about. The choice is yours.
Eilidh Catriona is capable of speeds in excess of thirty knots but the pace of travel is up to you. Some of our guests like to feel the speed whilst others prefer to take things a bit more leisurely. Some like to be outside in the fresh Highland air and some enjoy the centrally heated saloon. Again the choice is yours.
Because we prepare a fresh Highland buffet for most of our cruises we ask you to pre-book, giving reasonable notice. Forty eight hours is usually required but this can be reduced in special circumstances. Pre-booking also gives us an opportunity to discuss an itinerary and any special requirements you may have. You may find the following examples helpful:
On a two hour cruise you could join us at Dochgarroch and travel through the Canal to Loch Ness. We could see the romantic ruins of Urquhart Castle and perhaps have a short stop in Dores Bay to enjoy a light Highland finger buffet and complimentary drinks before returning to Dochgarroch. If you have four hours to spend with us we could see Urquhart Castle and visit Foyers or Fort Augustus where we could take a short walk to watch the boats going up and down the very impressive flight of locks. The fresh air on a four hour cruise will stimulate your appetite so we will provide a substantial Highland finger buffet or picnic accompanied by complimentary drinks.
We are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to sunset. On weekdays we normally operate from 6pm to sunset but we can usually accommodate day time cruises on weekdays if we get 14 days notice.
At Highland Free Spirits, Highland hospitality, fun and a touch of class are our trademarks and if you spend some time with us you will soon realise this.
