Adventures In Golf

Golfers the world over recognise Scotland as the Home of Golf. But many thousands of visitors each year discover that this ancient nation offers much more than just a golfer's paradise. Its mountain scenery can take the breath away; the Western Isles offer yachtsmen sailing of unparalleled quality and variety; Edinburgh is a vibrant capital city of strikingly beautiful architecture; and St Andrews, home to Scotland's oldest university, has charms and attractions that go well beyond its world famous golf courses.
Scotland's history is pervasive. Glamis Castle, the childhood home of The Queen Mother and the setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth, is just one of many castles that evidence 1,000 years of Scotland's history. In 1745, the last battle fought on British soil took place at Culloden Moor. The Scottish Borders are strewn with medieval battle sites between English and Scots, while Hadrian's Wall, just across the border, bears witness to almost 400 years of Roman influence.

Golfing enthusiasts return year after year to play not only the famous championship links, but to discover the hidden gems. We all know about the Old Course in St Andrews, justifiably a place of pilgrimage for golfers from every corner of the world. We know, too, about Carnoustie, Turnberry and Royal Troon. But have you discovered the likes of Machrie, Machrihanish, Brora or Cruden Bay?

Adventures In Golf is one of a small number of tour operators that are allocated guaranteed, reserved Old Course tee-times by St Andrews Links for the main golfing season. We supplement our own allocation by working closely with our partner hotels in St Andrews that are also allocated times. If playing the Old Course is crucial to your 2004 trip plans please contact us for advice on how best to access the course.

Ballybunion Old is one of the toughest courses in Ireland to play and one of the most difficult to obtain a tee-time for! Its popularity is undiminished and planning your visit well in advance is essential. We have also dealt with Ballybunion GC for many years and once again have some tee-times on selected dates in 2004 for our clients. Both courses will be closed at certain times due to traditional or special events. Contact us for details.
