Culzean Castle And Country Park

A remarkable vision of turets and battlements, Culzean is surrounded by surging seas, lush forests and secret gardens just waiting to be discovered - an ideal day out.
Culzean is the perfect place for a day out whether you're a keen walker, enjoy admiring gardens, have an interest in architecture, or just enjoy soaking up some history.
The castle was converted by Robert Adam between 1777 and 1792 and our guides can tell you all about the best features, including Adam's masterpiece, othe Oval Staircase, as well as the fine collection of paintings and furniture. If you're keen on military history, don't miss the armoury with its impressive display of pistols and swords. Culzean also has a strong link with President Eisenhower, as the top-floor apartment was presented to him for his lifetime in recognition of his role during World War II. Now, you can stay in the impressive Eisenhower Apartment as a paying guest.
Culzean is set in nearly 600 acres of stunning countryside and miles of waymarked paths lead visitors through majestic woodland and past secluded ponds. Head for the Deer Park, the cliff top walk or explore the beaches. And seek out the park's hidden treasures such as the ice houses, the Camellia House, the pagoda or the caves.
Garden lovers will find inspiration from the Fountain Court, the walled garden and the Victorian vinery.
Don't forget to leave time to explore our shops, try the adventure playground, have something to eat and drink, or check out the events programme.
Culzean Castle and Country Park are owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland and admission is free for members.
