River Ayr

River Ayr

The River Ayr, a joy for anglers, rises from Glenbuck Loch in East Ayrshire, and makes its way to South Ayrshire through Failford, Stair, Annbank and the beautiful Estate of Auchincruive. The River Ayr is a good all round water, having runs of salmon, seatrout, brown trout and grayling.

The river passes close to or through the villages of Muirkirk, Sorn, Catrine and Annbank before flowing into the Firth of Clyde at Ayr.
This trout and salmon river is kept stocked by fishermen from the fishing clubs along the river throughout the season. The fishing season for the river runs from 11th February - 31st October.

Operated by South Ayrshire Council.
