Discover the story of flight

Our historic First and Second World War airfield is full of atmosphere and home to 43 aircraft from the daunting early days of flight to the sleek sophistication of Concorde. How difficult were they to fly? What speeds did they reach? What would it have been like to build and fly them? You’ll find the answers to these questions and many more.

Take a seat on the new Airfield Explorer to travel our extensive site and trace the aviation story: military planes, passenger travel and the ultimate Concorde Experience. In and around our four hangars you’ll see the stars of the show: Comet and Concorde, Tiger Moth and Tornado, Spitfire and Sea Hawk. Each played its role as mankind took to the skies.

How high can a Tornado fly? What is it like to fly with the RAF? Kids can climb inside our replica cockpit, take the controls and let their imagination soar.
