Rik has been cycling for more years than he can remember and can offer advice on a whole range of stuff to do with bikes and biking either on or off road. He is a mountain bike leader and coach and can offer group rides or individual tuition to help boost your skills and confidence on two wheels.

Rik’s Bike Shed has a large fleet of hire bikes to suit all needs, whether you fancy a leisurely pedal with the whole family or a challenging single track experience on our red or black routes. Having small children ourselves means we understand the needs of families and have lots of kiddy friendly kit to get the whole family out pedalling comfortably, safely and enjoyably! Hire prices start from just £3 for a kid’s bike and £5 for an adult bike for an hour, or £5 for kids and £10 for adults for up to three hours. Call us on 01848 330080 for more info and to book.
Routes to Suit
Whatever your age or level of fitness Rik’s Bike Shed will find you a route to suit! You’ll find many of our routes here very family friendly (we know kids hate hills!) and are perfect if you’re pedalling with a baby seat or towing a trailer or tag-a-long. Drumlanrig has eight way-marked routes graded green for easy, then blue, to technically challenging red and black. They all have superb viewpoints, giving you chance to catch your breath and appreciate your surroundings.
Something Different
For the keen mountain biker, Drumlanrig trails offer a unique experience. Different from many others, the trails here have a very natural, organic feel to them, so if you fancy sampling some ‘old skool’, woodsy, rooty singletrack then Rik’s Bike Shed will point you in the right direction!
Expert Advice
Rik himself has been cycling for 35 years, mountain biking for 17. He has designed and built many trails on the estate and all over Scotland, including the technical red and black routes at Drumlanrig. If you need route advice, whether you are new to biking or an experienced rider, we can talk you through the best options and supply you with maps to make sure you get the most out of your experience at Drumlanrig.
Guided Rides
Guided rides are perfect if you’re visiting the area for the first time, or if you want a hassle free, uninterrupted ride. Use our insider knowledge to get the most out of the trails.
As designer and builder of some of Scotland’s best loved trails, there is no-one better qualified to guide you round them! Along with his years of experience on two wheels, Rik has been a qualified Mountain Bike Leader for as long as you can be one (his certificate is number 001!)
