The Cat's Moustache - Creetown

The Cat's Moustache - Creetown

The Cat's Moustache arts and crafts gallery, newly opened in Easter 2004, is located at 54 St John's Street in the conservation village of Creetown, just off the A75.

The Gallery is quickly gaining a reputation for the inspiring range of works on display and for its overall style and presentation.

The philosophy behind the gallery is to create an outlet which sells quality arts and crafts in a very accessible way, created through attention to detail and exemplary customer service. We aim to promote an appreciation of arts and crafts and to encourage contemporary and traditional arts, crafts and designs. The Gallery prides itself on its modern ambience and decor and its range of original excellent quality handmade works by well known local artists and craftspeople.

The Cat's Moustache also displays ranges of exciting and unique handcrafted works by national and international artisans, some of whose work is not readily available in Scotland. The arts on display and for sale include ceramics (porcelain, pottery and raku) glass, wood, enamelling, jewellery, letter-cutting, calligraphy and textiles. We also have an interesting and varied range of paintings in various mediums including oils, water-colours and silk painting. The Gallery also stocks a selection of handmade original toiletries.

Throughout this year, The Cat's Moustache Gallery holds a regular series of exhibitions by artists and craftspeople, to promote artistic talent from the Dumfries and Galloway region.

'Worth a visit to anyone interested in arts and crafts' said the Galloway Gazette newspaper in its edition of 9 April 2004. Comments from our visitors book include 'Most enjoyable', 'very stylish', 'I hope to come again', 'my favourite kind of shop, beautiful handmade crafts'. Why not visit us to find that perfect present or unusual gift for a loved one, for a wedding or special occasion or even better why not treat yourself!

The Gallery has a website and will be launching a transactional website during late summer 2004, which will allow customers to buy arts and crafts online from anywhere in the world.

Artists whose work is regularly on display in the Gallery include Andrew Rigby, Noelle Stevenson, Kate Phillips, Jennifer Edwards, Andrew Bryden, David Alexander, Karen Edwards, Margaret Miller, Ian Williams and Ruth Trevanion.
