Situated in the picturesque Old Town, in the city centre and within easy walking distance of all major tourist attractions and facilities. Next to the fashionable Grassmarket area the property faces on to Candlemaker Row. Ideal for the Edinburgh Festival. The little sash window at the rear looks out on to trees and grass in ancient Greyfriars Kirkyard, former scene of historic events. Opposite the window is the grave where Greyfriars Bobby, famous for canine fidelity, waited 14 years for his master's return. All rooms are on the first floor and consist of a hall, large sitting/dining room with open plan kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and w.c. In the sitting/dining room is a full sized double sofa bed. The furniture is a comfortable mixture of modern and antique.
The rooms are light, sunny and decorated in keeping with the traditional architecture. The lounge has the original stone fire surround. The bedroom has secondary glazing. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped.
The vicinity is full of eating places, shops and pubs. There are quaint and curious shops round the corner in Victoria Street and in the Grassmarket. The Royal Mile, whose passageways, known as Closes and Wynds, repay a day's exploration, is under 5 minutes on foot, while Scotland's main shopping thoroughfare, Princes Street, is no more than 10 minutes away. The flat is close to city bus routes, and near Waverley Station and Waverley Bridge, the main departure points for excursions and tours. Parking is free overnight Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays. There is unrestricted daytime parking in Marchmont, just 15 minutes away. There are car parks nearby. If you wish to inspect the property before making a booking, you may arrange to do so if the flat is vacant at the time. Guests will be met at the flat by the owners or members of their family.
