Regent House Hotel
The Regent House Hotel is a small, friendly, family owned and run hotel, located right in the heart of Edinburgh - Scotland's beautiful capital city. Although minutes from the train and bus stations and less than five minutes' walk from Princes Street and the Castle, the hotel is tucked away in a secluded side street, moments away from the hustle and noise of the city. The area is full of cosmopolitan bars, restaurants and speciality shops.
The architect William Burn - who also designed many houses in Forth Street and a number of Georgian and Palladian houses in the countryside - built the Regent House Hotel in 1805.
During the Victorian era it was run as a sea captains' house, while around the 1890's the tea room was converted into a grocery shop. The building became a hotel in 1942 when the Grant sisters (two spinsters) bought the building next door and combined it into a hotel with a tea room. They started serving morning coffee, high teas, cream teas and traditional lunches. The current proprietors are now in the process of bringing back the tea room.
The hotel has 17 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 45 people. All rooms have Sky Television and tea/coffee making facilities. The prices range from £35 to £65 per person per night, depending on the season. The price includes a full Scottish breakfast. We also have an alcohol licence which is restricted to guests only. The hotel has a night porter allowing 24 hour access.
