Information enquiry Booking

A very old listed building on Sea Wynd in the coastal village of Aberlady, the Upper Flat has spectacular views across the village green and over the Nature Reserve of Aberlady Bay, towards Gullane. In the past, the house was reputedly associated with smugglers, and formed 'The Ship Inn', with a sailing galleon carved on the outside front wall at first floor level.

The Upper Flat was completely renovated, refitted and refurbished to a high standard during 2004/5 and is fully gas central-heated. Sleeps 4 (2 single beds, 1 double bed). Own entrance by external stairs at the rear of the building.

Accommodation comprises:
- Living Room
- Dining Room
- Kitchen
- Front Bedroom
- Back Bedroom
- Bathroom with combined Bath and Power Shower, heated Towel Rail
- Large Hallway.

Aberlady is a 7th century village in East Lothian. Amenities in the village include a Post Office, a village store, an Inn, an hotel and a fish and chip shop.
Across the Green is Aberlady Bay Nature Reserve with migrating wildfowl, waders and seabirds. The nearby main entrance to the Nature Reserve, has its long footbridge over the Peffer Burn, a favourite with the famous Scottish author Nigel Tranter, who lived nearby.

East Lothian is a beautiful county, with glorious walks e.g. the sandy beaches at nearby Gullane and Dirleton.

Edinburgh is only just over 20 minutes away by train from Longniddry, the next village along the coast.

Golf - Aberlady is very central for some of the best golf in Scotland: Muirfield in Gullane, the home of the Open Golf Championship, is only 4 miles away, and six others are even closer. St Andrews is possible in a day.

Other recommended trips: castles at Dirleton and Tantallon, Glenkinchie whisky distillery, the award-winning Seabird Centre in North Berwick, taking a boat round the famous Bass Rock to see kittiwakes, puffins and the largest colony of gannets in Europe, Concorde at the Museum of Flight.
