Augustine United Church

United Reformed

Built 1857-61 by J J M & W H Hay with Romanesque, Renaissance and Classical elements for the congregation of the second Scottish Congregational Church in Edinburgh. The projecting centre of the gable front is carried up as the brides-cake tower which is topped by a spire of three diminishing octagonal stages. Composite hammerbeam and kingpost roof. The Bradford computer organ 1994 uses the pipes and case of the former Ingram organ 1929. Major alterations to interior, to plans by Stewart Tod and Partners 1995. Two stained glass windows by Robert Burns, formerly in the gallery, now at ground-floor level. Now, with the meger of several congregations, a member of the United Reformed Church.

Sunday Service: 11.00am; Holy Communion first and third Sundays
