Broughton St Mary's Parish Church

A burgh church, built to serve Edinburghs spreading New Town. Designed in 1824 by Thomas Brown as centrepiece of Bellevue Crescent. Neo-classical style, graceful interior with fluted Corinthian columns supporting gallery. Unaltered organ by Lewis, 1882, recently restored. Original pulpit. Nathaniel Brysons stained glass Annunciation is of particular note. Robert Stevenson, lighthouse builder and grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson, elder 1828-43. Ten to fifteen minutes walk from east end of Princes Street. City buses 8, 17 to Bellevue Crescent.

Open May to September, Wednesday 10.00am-12.00 noon, and Monday to Saturday during the first week of the Edinburgh Festival in August 10.00am-4.00pm
