The first post-Reformation church built in Edinburgh 1620, altered 1722, 1858, 1938 and 1990. The National Covenant signed here in 1638. fine 19th-century coloured glass by Ballantine, and Peter Collins organ 1990. Historic kirkyard, former Franciscan Friary garden, has fine examples of 17th-century monuments, the Martyrs Monument, Covenanters Prison and memorial to Greyfriars Bobby. Sunday Services: 11.00am and 12.30pm (Gaelic), first Sunday of month Holy Communion 9.15am; Thursdays all year Lunchtime Service with organ music 1.10-1.30pm
Opening Hours
Open April to October, Monday to Friday 10.30am-4.30pm, Saturday 10.30am-2.30pm, November to March, Thursday 1.30-3.30pm. Churchyard open all year Monday to Friday 8.00am-6.00pm, Saturday and Sunday 10.00am-4.00pm.
