The first post-Reformation church built in Edinburgh 1620, altered 1722, 1858, 1938 and 1990. The National Covenant signed here in 1638. fine 19th-century coloured glass by Ballantine, and Peter Collins organ 1990. Historic kirkyard, former Franciscan Friary garden, has fine examples of 17th-century monuments, the Martyrs Monument, Covenanters Prison and memorial to Greyfriars Bobby. South end of George IV Bridge. City buses 2, 12, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 40, 42, 45, 47.

Sunday Services: 11.00am and 12.30pm (Gaelic), first Sunday of month Holy Communion 9.15am; Thursdays all year Lunchtime Service with organ music 1.10-1.30pm

Opening Hours

Open April to October, Monday to Friday 10.30am-4.30pm, Saturday 10.30am-2.30pm, November to March, Thursday 1.30-3.30pm. Churchyard open all year Monday to Friday 8.00am-6.00pm, Saturday and Sunday 10.00am-4.00pm.
