Pathhead is a small village four miles south-east of Dalkeith in Midlothian.

Pathhead boasts attractions such as Soutra Aisle, a family burial vault dated 1686, constructed when the Scottish Church banned

monuments inside churches. It features ornately carved medieval stone and has been thoroughly investigated and restored. Crichton Castle has a spectacular facade of faceted stonework in an Italian style.
