East of Edinburgh, Prestonpans is the site of a famous battle.

Prestonpans is a former mining settlement, situated on the Firth of Forth, just to the east of Musselburgh. In 1745 the Jacobites vanquished the Hanoverian army in one of the major battles in Scottish history. The open-air Prestongrange Heritage Museum is a popular attraction.
