The Queen's Gallery - Palace of Holyroodhouse

Built in the shell of the former Holyrood Free Church and Duchess of Gordon's School, the Gallery provides purpose-built, state-of-the-art facilities to enable a programme of changing exhibitions of the most delicate works of art from the Royal Collection to be shown in Scotland for the first time.

This superb exhibition, the first ever mounted of Flemish paintings in the Royal Collection, brings together over 50 works from the 15th to 17th centuries. Artists featured in the exhibition include Hans Memling, Jan Brueghel, Van Dyck and David Tenniers
Flemish portrait paintings of the 16th century was admired for its meticulous technique and extraordinary realism. During the same period, Flemish artists were considered to be the greatest of all landscape painters. The exhibition includes three of Rubens’s finest landscapes, painted for the artist’s personal pleasure.
