The Three Chimneys and The House Over-By provided the very first 5-Star accommodation on the Isle of Skye when the bedrooms were built in 1999. Since then, the long-established reputation of this famous Scottish restaurant with rooms has spread far and wide around the globe. Graded with 5 stars by both the AA and VisitScotland, The Three Chimneys and The House Over-By also holds the AA’s Inspector’s Choice award for 2008, placing it in the top 10% of quality places to stay throughout the UK and Ireland.
The Three Chimneys is one of Scotland’s most favourite restaurants. Candle-lit, cosy and romantic, it has won numerous awards and is well-known for serving the best local produce home-grown on the island, fresh seafood, fish, locally reared lamb, beef and game. Head Chef, Michael Smith, holds one of only 6 Gold Awards presented by Eat Scotland in 2007, plus 3 AA Red Rosettes.
Housed within the bare stone walls of a traditional crofter’s cottage, the tiny restaurant is situated beside the sea on the shores of Loch Dunvegan. Next door in The House Over-By are six delightful junior bedroom suites, all overlooking the sea. The rooms are stylish and spacious, each with direct access into the garden and a path to the shore. Every bedroom is designed to the same high standard, ensuring that all those who stay can expect the same level of quality and comfort. Breakfast is served in the Morning Room with its panoramic views over the loch and the mountains of Uist and Harris on the western horizon.

Guests frequently comment that their expectations are exceeded when they stay at The Three Chimneys. Many customers make the trip to celebrate a special occasion or a family event. It is the perfect spot for a honeymoon or a romantic getaway break. High season rates are replaced by very competitive Winter deals from November to March. We are open for Christmas and New Year.
Open throughout the year except for 3 weeks in January.
Dinner is served every night of the week from 6.30pm.
Lunch is served Monday – Saturday from March until the end of October.
Booking is always strongly advised for the restaurant, as well as the rooms.
