Bowmore is the main town on the isle of Islay.
Bowmore is Islay's main town, situated on the shores of Loch Indaal. It has a unique, round church, reputedly designed to ensure that evil spirits had no corner in which to hide.
Islay is famed for its whisky and boasts seven distilleries. Founded in 1779, Bowmore distillery is the oldest on the island and its malt one of the most renowned, and one of the most commercially successful.
