Boat of Garten
Boat of Garten is a pretty village perfectly placed for visiting the Cairngorms National Park.
Boat of Garten is on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, which incorporates the largest mountainscape in the UK, a quarter of Scotland's native woodland, and a quarter of the UK's threatened wildlife species. The village lies on the banks of the picturesque River Spey - a top fishing spot.
Just a mile and a half from Boat of Garten is Abernethy Forest RSPB Reserve on the shore of Loch Garten. Between April and August you can see the famous ospreys at their nest, hopefully with some chicks. In spring you might be lucky enough to see capercaillie, if you come very early in the morning.
